TAIKO AND THE PARKS

In 2022, Taiko and the Parks launched as one of 16 BIPOC-led projects funded by Olmsted Now, an initiative focused on parks equity and spatial justice in Greater Boston. This three-part series, led by an intergenerational team, highlights Boston's BIPOC elders, the art of taiko, and an honoring of the lands. Elders convene in green spaces for dialogues on climate, public safety, and aging. Taiko compositions evolve from community discussions, showcased as works-in-progress at a concluding event. Attendees embark on a rhythmic walk, fostering connections with the land. Taiko and the Parks exemplifies community engagement, cultural celebration, and environmental mindfulness in public spaces.
